Description

It is a large object that looks like a container used for pouring liquids. It was found in 1950 by a farmer near the town of Chua, near Lake Titicaca. It is currently in the Museum of Precious Metals "Museo de Oro" on Jaén Street, in La Paz, Bolivia. Some of the carvings inside look a bit like non-Sumerian Mesopotamian cuneiform symbols. Alexander H. Joffe has suggested that the symbols might be simple geometric patterns or meaningless markings. The image inside seems more similar to artwork from the local Tiwanaku culture, which existed around 200 to 1000 CE.
