British designer Alexander McQueen created 36 women's clothing collections for his fashion brand from 1992 until his death in 2010. As a designer, McQueen was famous for sharp tailoring, designs inspired by history, and creative ideas that sometimes caused debate. His fashion shows were dramatic and theatrical, with some including elements of performance art. McQueen found inspiration for his clothing and shows from many sources, such as movies, history, nature, world religions, art, and his own life. Through his work, he explored themes like romance, sexuality, and death.

He used unusual clothing shapes to challenge how the human body is seen, making wearers look almost otherworldly. Early in his career, he created an extremely low-rise trouser style called the "bumster," which became a well-known feature of his brand. Other important designs include the skull scarf, another brand symbol; the oyster dress; and the armadillo shoe, famously worn by singer Lady Gaga.

Women's clothing was the main focus of McQueen's career. In his early collections, he sometimes showed men's clothing or used male models in his shows, but his brand did not regularly produce men's clothing until 2004. From October 1996 to October 2001, McQueen also worked as the head designer at the French fashion house Givenchy, where he created both high-end custom clothing and pre-made clothing collections each season. This article focuses only on McQueen's women's clothing collections for his own brand.
