Viktor Schauberger (Austrian German: [ˈʃaʊbɛrɡɐ]; 30 June 1885 – 25 September 1958) was an Austrian forest caretaker, naturalist, philosopher, pseudoscientist, and inventor. He lived in Austria and studied nature, science, and ideas about the world.
Early life
Schauberger was born on June 30, 1885, in Holzschlag, Upper Austria. His parents were Leopold Schauberger and Josefa, born Klimitsch. From 1891 to 1897, he studied at the elementary school in Aigen. From 1897 until 1900, he attended the state grammar school in Linz. From 1900 to 1904, he studied at the forestry school in Aggsbach, located in Kartause Aggsbach, where he earned his qualification as a forester. From 1904 to 1906, he worked as a forest clerk in Groß-Schweinbarth, Lower Austria.
Technology
Nick Cook visited the PKS bio-technical institute, called the Pythagoras-Kepler System, located in the Salzkammergut Mountains. Viktor’s grandson, Joerg, allowed Nick to view family archives that included Viktor’s books, letters, diary, and patent applications. In addition to inventing a log flume, Viktor worked on machines related to biology and technology. In 1939, Viktor submitted a patent to the Reich Patent Office for a device called a “multistage centrifuge with concentrically juxtaposed pressure chambers,” which could help move machines through air or water, clean water, or generate electricity. In 1940, Viktor hired a company in Berlin to build the machine. In February 1941, he changed to a company in Vienna called Kertl. In March 1941, Viktor began working in secret for the Nazis. By 1944, this work included using workers from the Mauthausen concentration camp. After the war ended, the United States captured Viktor and questioned him for nine months. In 1957, Viktor and his son Walter were invited to the United States by Karl Gerchsheimer and Robert Donner to help produce Viktor’s implosion technology. Viktor died shortly after returning to Linz.
