Unsolved Crimes is an adventure game for the Nintendo DS. It was developed by Now Production and published by Empire Interactive.

Plot

The game takes place in New York City during the 1970s. The player is a new detective working in the homicide division. There are eight separate cases in the game, along with one major case that is split into parts and follows the player throughout the game. This main case involves a missing person named Betsy Blake, who was once a model. Betsy is the sister of the player's partner, Marcy Blake.

Gameplay

The DS uses a touch screen to display several items, including memos, evidence, suspect profiles, and information about movements.

In most cases, players must answer questions. These questions are usually multiple-choice. If a player answers incorrectly, their partner loses trust in them. The game ends when Marcy no longer trusts the player or when all cases are completed.

In one case, some questions can be skipped. However, all questions must be answered to unlock a case after the player finds Betsy.

Reception

The game Unsolved Crimes has received different opinions from critics. IGN described it as a good graphic adventure with some problems, praising the variety of game mechanics and saying the cases are very interesting. However, they criticized the presentation and graphics. GameSpot said the visuals were not very special and pointed out that the use of multiple choice questions made the investigations too simple. They also mentioned the lack of suspect interrogations. However, they praised the engaging cases, the environmental sound effects, and the action sequences that added variety. They concluded that while the game includes interesting crimes to solve, uncovering the truth was too easy.
